The Financial Times has teamed up with London-based clothing brand With Nothing Underneath to create a limited-edition shirt for women. Featuring vertical stripes in the FT’s signature salmon pink, The Boyfriend shirt is made in Portugal from Tencel, a biodegradable material formed of wood pulp that offers a silk-like drape. WNU was founded in 2017 by former Vogue stylist and Tatler editor Pip Durell, out of a desire for timeless designs that work for women of all shapes and styles.
Ten per cent of proceeds will go to the FT’s FLIC campaign that aims to democratise financial education by providing free and engaging content. Established in 2021, Flic campaigns to demystify finance for three target audiences: young people aged between 14 and 25; women and disenfranchised groups including minority ethnic communities; and migrants. The charity teaches people how to navigate the financial world through training, bespoke learning resources that are both comprehensive and straightforward, and social media videos.
The shirt launched with a party last night at WNU’s London store in Belgravia. Newspaper stands stood outside the shop filled with dozens of FT papers, and shirts hung in the window. Guests, who included ceramicist Martha Freud, the FT’s consumer editor Claer Barrett, and the director of Flic, Aimée Allam, were served Fearless Pink Brut Rosé 2022. The English sparkling wine is a collaboration between the FT and London-based winery LDN CRU, and will be available to buy next week.
